| What
is Hearts & Stars? Hearts & Stars is a Silent Auction and Art Exhibition hosted by the South Trenton Area Residents' Society (STARS) to raise both awareness and funds for community development in South Trenton. |
| What
day and time is the Hearts & Stars event? Friday, February 10th, 2011 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Light food and beverages will be served. |
| Where
is the Artworks Gallery located? Hearts & Stars, hosted by STARS, will be held at Artworks Gallery, 19 Everett Alley, Trenton, NJ 08611. The Artworks building is located off of South Stockton Street, directly across from the NJDMV (120 S. Stockton & Front Streets, Trenton, NJ 08611). Parking is free. | Do
I need to purchase tickets or pay admission? You do not need to purchase tickets and admission is free. |
| What
are the hours for the Heart Silent Auction? What about the remaining artwork? The heart auction will begin when the doors open at 6:00 pm and will promptly end at 9:00 pm. Winning bidders can pay and take home their hearts after 10:00 pm. Remaining artwork will be available for sale until Saturday at 9:00pm. |
| If
I am the winning bidder for a heart or decide to purchase additional artwork, when can I pick up my items? You can either pay for your items during the event; or a STARS member can contact you after the event to finalize payment and artwork pick up. All attendees purchasing artwork throughout the night will be asked for their contact information at the start of the night. You will then be assigned a unique id number to be used for bidding on hearts and buying depictions artwork. The bidding will close promptly at 9:00 pm but payments will be accepted up until 10:00 pm. |
| What
forms of payment do you accept? Payment can be made at the auction by cash, checks (made payable to S.T.A.R.S.), or by using a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover or PayPal account). We will have a laptop at the event in order to process credit card payments through PayPal. PayPal does not require you to have an account with PayPal, just a valid credit card and email address. Payments and donations via PayPal can be paid to the following email address: donate@trentonstars.org. |
| HOW
CAN I HELP AT THE HEARTS & STARS EVENT? There are 5 ways that you can assist us in making our event successful... |
| 1.
DECORATE A HEART. Hearts are FREE
and can be picked up and returned to any one of our six heart
locations listed at the top of this page. All ages are encouraged
to participate. Hearts are limited so we ask that you only take what you will use. Once a location runs out of hearts, they
will not be replenished. Remember to attach a HEART FORM to each heart submission so that we can match the artist to the heart. There are no decorating rules. Be as creative as your heart can imagine. We only ask that you preserve the small hole at the top for hanging. If you must cover the hole, then a secondary hanging option needs to be created... ribbons, string or picture frame brackets are acceptable alternatives. |
| 2.
CONTRIBUTE ARTWORK. Both the Heart Silent Auction as well as additional vendor artwork will be in the gallery on the same night.
All mediums will be considered. All additional artwork will be for sale, with proceeds split between the artist and the South Trenton Area Residents'

| 3.
ATTEND HEARTS & STARS AND BUY ART. 100% of the proceeds from the heart auction and proceeds from any other displayed or donated art will be split between the artist and STARS and will go towards the STARS community garden and other neighborhood development. Bidding for each heart will start at $5. Artwork prices will range depending on the medium and size. |
| 4.
MAKE A DONATION. If you don't have a creative
bone in your body and you've already made big plans on the night
of our event, you can still help us by making a donation via PayPal
to: donate@trentonstars.org. PayPal accepts checks, debit and
credit cards. All donations received will go directly towards
the garden fund. |
| 5.
VOLUNTEER. STARS is seeking 10 volunteers to assist
us before, during and after the Hearts & Stars event. Duties will vary from hanging hearts, setting up tables and
chairs, handing out auction stickers and cleaning up after the
event. If you are interested in volunteering, email us
