Dear Neighbors,
A community-based art garden in Trenton’s South Ward,
STARS
PARK (pdf) provides its visitors and members
with free fresh produce, a hands-on educational gardening
experience, and a walking park showcasing Trenton murals,
sculptures, and landscaping architecture. This idea is derived
from award winning and internationally acclaimed art gardens
such as “Writers Block” and “Quark Park,”
in which dedicated community members work with their local
government, community leaders, community-based organizations,
and corporations to achieve something significant; namely,
transforming a vacant city lot into a vibrant neighborhood
destination. STARS Park’s benefits include, but are
not limited to:
- A community garden where urban residents work together
to grow fresh food from themselves, with
a “tithe” portion of each harvest provided to
local residents, free of charge;
- An abandoned and potentially dangerous city lot is cleaned
up and made productive;
- An aesthetic scene featuring the works of local muralists,
sculptors, painters, woodworkers, etc.;
- Educational opportunities for local children to learn
about gardening, landscaping, and art;
- An arts destination that will draw visitors to our burgeoning
city.
We hope you will support this endeavor with a generous donation
to STARS. Donations can be made in person by attending our
Hearts & Stars Silent Auction on February 4th & 5th, 2011 or via PayPal to: dontate@trentonstars.org. Should you have
any questions, please contact us via email at: trentonstars@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
